In the winter, it transforms into a cross-country skiing destination complete with a volunteer-maintained warming booth ($5 suggested donation). So grab your cross-country skis and head to the Lakewood Golf Course.
Lakewood Theatre & Inn Restaurant: Walk or take a short drive to historic summer stock live theater and fine waterside dining.

Whitewater Rafting: 40 minutes away for thrilling Kennebec River adventures.
Sugarloaf Mountain: 40 minutes away for winter skiing or summer mountain biking.

🚗 GUEST ACCESS
Guests will enjoy private and exclusive access to the entire 1,424 sq ft home, including the yard and outdoor spaces. Self-check-in is quick and seamless via a secure digital door keypad.
GUEST INTERACTION
We love giving our guests total privacy to unwind and enjoy the lake! We offer seamless 24/7 self-check-in via a secure door keypad, so you can arrive and settle in on your own schedule.
While we won’t be there in person, we live nearby and are responsive through the Airbnb app. Whether you have a question about the cottage, need a local recommendation, or just want to confirm the best spot to launch the kayaks, we are only a quick message away and happy to help!
COMMUNITY VIBE
We are proud to be part of the peaceful, historic Lakewood Community. To keep our neighborhood serene, this home has limited parking and is best suited for quiet family retreats. No large parties or disruptive gatherings are permitted.
DOG POLICY
We love hosting four legged family members! Please message us with the number and breed of your dogs. A signed pet release form and a one time non-refundable pet fee of $150 apply.
WATER SAFETY
Maine law requires a properly fitted, USCG-approved life jacket for everyone on board a watercraft. Children under 10 must wear them at all times. We provide an assortment of life jackets and a required kayak liability release form prior to your arrival.
WEATHER & TRAVEL INSURANCE
Maine weather can be unpredictable year-round. Because we cannot control the elements or provide refunds for weather-related disruptions or power outages, we strongly encourage purchasing travel insurance at checkout to protect your trip investments.
BUGS & THE MAINE WOODS
Lakewood Haus is nestled in a beautiful, natural lakeside community surrounded by trees and water. Being immersed in nature means you will likely encounter some of Maine’s local wildlife, including squirrels, chipmunks, loons, and—yes—bugs!
Depending on the season, mosquitoes, blackflies, “no-see-ums,” and lake midges are a normal part of the outdoor experience. We recommend bringing your favorite bug spray, keeping the cottage doors and window screens closed, and embracing the authentic lake life vibe.
